I don’t know if there will be any news about Michael in the weeks to come, as he doesn’t have anything coming out. He does have Centurion coming out this year, but it will be in the UK sometime in the fall/winter, on tv. I will be seeing Fish Tank next month, and I saw Blood Creek (Town Creek) this last week, and saw Inglourious Basterds last month.
From August to October, I will have seen one Michael movie a month. I’m quite excited to see Fish Tank as most of my friends have already seen the movie.
I was very excited to see Blood Creek. I wanted to see if it had changed at all after I saw it almost two years ago. Unfortunately, the movie was playing only in super saver theaters, and there wasn’t any theater playing the movie within an hour's drive. I had to make a special trek to Manteca. I had never been there before, or at least I don’t ever remember going there.
I had wanted to go on a day I didn’t have class, but my folks use my car on days I don’t have school. So I snuck out after school to Manteca. I barely made it to the first showing, and the drive took forever. The map and directions made it look like it would be closer than it really felt like it was.
I figured that if I was going to drive that far for this movie, I was going to see it more than once. I saw it three times, one after another. Tickets were three bucks, and afterwards, I thought that if I could afford it, I’d try to make a monthly trip to watch movies all day. For that price, why not?
The first time I watched the movie, I watched it to see if I could find anything different from the last time I saw it. The second time, I watched it for visuals and audio, since we were studying audio in class that day. The third time, I watched it for the heck of it. I thought I’d be sick of the movie by the third time, but I wasn’t.
Actually, after the first time I saw the movie, I wasn’t sure I was going to see it again. But then, I thought, what the heck? It was hard to watch a few of the scenes again, the first time. It was easier each time, although there’s a scene in the end that I still can’t watch.
Since I didn’t have time to put my computer up, I spent the day writing my thoughts and taking notes. So let’s see what I have to say.
Michael looked great in the beginning…and I still want that long, black jacket. I had just seen a story on runes in the US, which really enhanced my understanding of the story of the movie.
Michael’s character, Wirth, was a charismatic freak. Pretty dastardly. And freaking scary later. A face only a mother could love. He does that kind of character well.
I had always wondered, why Michael had to “learn” German for Inglourious Basterds when he was speaking German in Blood Creek, two years earlier?
I didn’t remember Michael’s voice being dubbed so much that he sounded like Schwarzenegger at times. I don’t think the dubbing was completely done when I had seen it. I also think that if they needed Mr. Freeze for the next Batman, Michael would be a good choice, based on the character he played in this movie.
The movie was shorter than I remembered, but I don’t remember any lost scenes. I thought that there was another confrontation with either Henry Cavill or Dominic Purcell and Michael in the barn, but it might just be a blurring of scenes.
The effects of the horses weren’t done when I saw them last time, and they still weren’t quite right. The last confrontation wasn’t completed either when I saw it last. The last fx scene was done really well.
I had also thought that the first time I saw the scene with Michael and Henry in the truck, there were some interesting undertones. But when I saw the movie this week, I didn’t see it so much.
If you want to read my first review: http://greyeyegoddess.blogspot.com/2007/12/town-creek-pre-screening.html
I had wanted to do a really thorough-spoiler like review. I had started one, but never finished it. Too late.
I would encourage people to go see the movie, but I think it’s not playing anymore. Hopefully it will be on dvd soon.
And now, I’d like to introduce you to a new forum for Michael Fans: http://mfmultiply.forumotion.com/forum.htm
I never thought I'd do something like this. I'm quite proud of it. It’s been a lot fun and work, keeping me out of trouble. It was easier than I thought it would be, and I’ve been able to do everything I wanted to do. I hope that by the time I need to change the background, I’ll know how to do it myself, instead of using premade backgrounds.
After I had started this forum, I had thought about working on Wordpress for a site, but I figured right now, I have Multiply. I'm thinking in the back of my mind that maybe, Wordpress would work better to get the site and forum out there for people. Maybe later on, when I get things settled, I'll try Wordpress just to learn how to do it, like I did the forum.
I had wanted to get my hands into the behind the scenes of a forum because I wanted to see if it would be difficult or easy to put one together. The forum on MFO has been down for probably a month. That’s a little too long for fans like me to be without a place to talk to other fans.
At this time, it's pretty much me talking to myself on the forum, as I haven't really promoted the forum much. Just passing the information to people and letting them sign up if they want.
But I seem to have a lot to say.
I've been tempted to start a forum for Brendan Fraser fans, since the main one is closed now. I think I'll wait for the twitter account to grow some more, and then maybe work on one. I can shoot for Brendan's birthday which is Dec. 3.
I still keep up the other things for the MFO, as I’m a little more available right now.
I still have a lot of updates to do. I need to get another hard drive to empty the laptop hard drive so I can file the updates. So until I get the hard drive, I’m going to be behind on updates.
Other little tidbits-I bought the book Band of Brothers on sale as paperback. Will read when I get settled.
Received a lovely picture of Michael for my birthday. Thanks Kathy, sweetie
